Setting Up ClickPatrol for Multiple Websites & Accounts
This article explains the technical side of protecting more than one website: how your ClickPatrol UID and GTM containers map to your websites and Google Ads accounts, and how to confirm every site is protected. If you instead want to add or switch between separate client accounts inside your dashboard, see Adding & Switching Between Client Accounts.
How your setup works depends on how many websites you are protecting.
| Scenario | How it works |
|---|---|
| One website | The website gets one UID, connected to one Google Ads account. Install that UID in the website's GTM container. |
| Multiple websites | Each website gets its own UID and connects to one Google Ads account. Connect the accounts to ClickPatrol through your MCC, then install each website's own UID in its GTM container. |
Important: Your UID is tied to the website, not to the Google Ads account. Each website you add in your ClickPatrol dashboard gets its own UID, and each website connects to one Google Ads account. Always install a website's own UID in that website's GTM container.
Each website you are protecting will appear under Website Overview in your ClickPatrol dashboard once traffic is detected. If a website is not showing up, confirm that the correct UID is installed in its GTM container and that the tag is firing correctly.
You connect your Google Ads accounts to ClickPatrol through a Google Ads Manager Account (MCC). For the MCC requirements, see Adding & Switching Between Client Accounts.
What to do next#
Once the ClickPatrol tag is live and events are firing correctly, you can connect those events to your advertising platforms:
- Google Ads audiences via GA4: Google Ads Audiences via GA4
- GA4 events: GA4 Events
- Google Ads audiences via custom parameters: Google Ads Audiences via Custom Parameters
- Meta: Meta Ads
- Bing Ads
- TikTok
