Excluding Placements
The Placements page shows every website, app, or property where your ads have generated clicks, together with how much of that traffic ClickPatrol classified as legitimate or suspicious. From this same page you can exclude any placement so your ads stop showing there, keeping your budget on the properties that deliver real, human visitors.
Where to find it#
Open dashboard.clickpatrol.com/placements, or click Placements in the left-hand sidebar. The page loads a table with one row per placement and a set of columns describing the traffic quality of each one.
Understanding the columns#
Each row represents a single placement, for example a website domain, a mobile app on a network such as adsenseformobileapps.com, or another property serving your ads. The columns break down as follows:
- Placement: the domain, app, or property where the clicks originated.
- Total Clicks: the total number of clicks recorded from that placement.
- Safe Clicks: clicks classified as legitimate, human traffic.
- Fake Clicks: clicks classified as suspicious or invalid.
- % Fake Clicks: the share of total clicks from that placement that were flagged as fake.
- Predicted Click Saved: the estimated number of invalid clicks ClickPatrol expects to keep out going forward.
- eCPC: the effective cost per click for that placement.
- Reallocated: the estimated ad spend saved and reallocated to real visitors by keeping this placement's invalid traffic blocked.
- Is_Excluded: a toggle that controls whether the placement is excluded from your campaigns.
Sorting and paging#
Click any column header to sort the table. A common workflow is to sort by % Fake Clicks or Fake Clicks to bring the worst-performing placements to the top. Use the Previous / Next controls at the bottom right to page through the full list.
How to exclude a placement#
To stop your ads from showing on a placement, use the toggle in the Is_Excluded column:
- Find the placement you want to block, using sorting to surface the ones with the highest % Fake Clicks.
- Toggle Is_Excluded on for that row.
- The placement is added to your exclusion list, so your ads no longer serve there.
To undo an exclusion, toggle Is_Excluded back off.
Which placements should I exclude?#
Placements with a high % Fake Clicks and little or no Safe Clicks are the strongest candidates to exclude, because they consume budget without delivering real visitors. Placements that are mostly legitimate are usually best left active, so you do not lose genuine traffic.
Note: excluding a placement prevents future spend on it, but it does not retroactively credit past clicks. For how ClickPatrol estimates the budget saved by blocking invalid traffic, see What is Budget Reallocation?
