How to exclude campaigns from updates
By default, ClickPatrol protects every campaign in your connected account. On the Exclusion tab you make exceptions: campaigns or ad groups you select there are excluded from ClickPatrol updates, so no automated changes are pushed to them while the rest of your account stays protected.
When to exclude a campaign or ad group#
- A campaign that serves as a control group while you test ClickPatrol, so you can compare protected against unprotected.
- A campaign your client or another team manages, where automated changes are not wanted.
- An experiment you want to run without any outside interference.
Where to find it#
- Log in to your ClickPatrol dashboard.
- Click Configuration in the sidebar.
- Open the Exclusion tab ("Manage exclusion settings").
Exclude campaigns or ad groups#
The page has two columns: Campaigns and Ad Groups. As the dashboard puts it: "The selected Campaigns will be excluded from updates." The same applies to ad groups.
- Use the search field to find the campaign or ad group.
- Flip the toggle in the ACTION column for that row.
Flip the toggle back off to include it in updates again.
Good to know#
- Excluding an ad group leaves the rest of its campaign protected; use the Ad Groups column when only part of a campaign needs an exception.
- This is not the same as excluding placements. Keeping your ads off low-quality websites and apps is covered in Excluding Placements.
