How to use Reports
The Reports page breaks your traffic down by campaign, keyword, device, network and location, always split into safe and fake clicks. Where the Dashboard and Analytics pages show the overall trend, Reports tells you where invalid traffic concentrates, so you know which campaigns and regions carry the problem.
Where to find it#
Click Reports in the sidebar of your ClickPatrol dashboard. At the top you find the Date Filter to set the period and a Download Report button to export what you see.
Traffic Statistics: campaigns and keywords#
The first tab has two views. Campaigns lists every campaign with these columns:
- CAMPAIGNS and TYPE: the campaign name and its campaign type.
- TOTAL CLICKS, SAFE CLICKS, FAKE CLICKS: the volume split.
- % FAKE: the share of clicks classified as fake.
- PREDICTED CLICK SAVED: clicks you did not have to pay for thanks to blocking.
- ECPC: the effective cost per click.
- REALLOCATED: budget freed up by blocking, available for real visitors.
Keywords shows the same metric columns per keyword, without the TYPE column. Sort on % FAKE in either view to find the campaigns or keywords where fraud hits hardest.
Client & OS#
This tab splits your traffic by Device Operating Systems, Browsers and Languages. A sudden cluster of clicks from one unusual OS, browser or language is a common fraud fingerprint.
Devices & Networks#
This tab breaks traffic down by ISPs and Devices. Data-center providers and hosting networks in your ISP list deserve a closer look; real customers browse from consumer and mobile networks.
Location#
A map with Countries and Regions tables. Compare it against where your ads target: clicks from regions you never targeted point at invalid traffic.
Good to know#
- Investigating a suspicious pattern found here? The Click Insights table on the Dashboard shows the individual clicks behind these numbers.
- New clicks can take up to 30 minutes to appear, though it is often faster.
