Do we need to put ClickPatrol in our Privacy Policy?

In Platform Usage · Updated (1 months ago)

The Short Answer#

While not strictly mandatory, we strongly recommend updating your privacy policy to include ClickPatrol. This ensures full transparency with your website visitors regarding how their data is processed for fraud prevention.

Why isn't it mandatory?#

Technically, the use of third-party tracking is often covered under the standard terms and privacy policies associated with Google Ads. Furthermore, ClickPatrol is an official Google Certified Click Tracker, meaning our technology complies with Google’s rigorous data and privacy standards.

Why we recommend it#

Privacy regulations (like GDPR in Europe and CCPA/CPRA in California) prioritize transparency. Explicitly stating that you use a fraud detection service helps build trust and ensures you are fully compliant with the requirement to inform users about third-party tools running on your site.

Sample Text for your Privacy Policy#

If you wish to add a clause to your policy, you can use the following template (it's an example, there is no legal :

"To protect our advertising campaigns from fraud and ensure valid traffic, we use the services of ClickPatrol (https://clickpatrol.com/). This system analyzes traffic patterns to detect and block invalid clicks and bots. In doing so, it may process data such as IP addresses and browser information solely for the purpose of fraud prevention and security. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in protecting our business assets."
